I thought foreign teeny bopper films would be different than American teeny bopper films, but apparently I was wrong. They are all the same. They all lack substance, have two-dimensional characters, and add a bunch of superflous corny gags that just leaves a bitter cheesy aftertaste in your mouth when you realize you've given up 108 minutes of your time to watch it. Through out this film I couldn't help but think how many takes it actually took to get one scene down, because in my opinion they didn't do enough. In many scenes it seemed like the actors were laughing when they weren't supposed to, and yes I know it's a comedy, but the joke is better told when it's told with a straight face. Overall the acting sloppy. I would say, the worst acting out of all the characters would be Charlene Choi. Choi overacted in this movie. By overacting, I mean that she put so much energy into Yoyo's character that it made it her seem really annoying. This really killed the whole movie. Ekin's sophisticated academic character and Choi's immature hyperactive character wouldn't mesh together in real-life, which really ruined the credibility of this film. This wasn't the only problem though. Although the story line had potential--teacher secretly marries student, it took a turn for the worst when it ended so cornily. I couldn't help but be reminded of the endings of Jackie Chan films where Jackie breaks out with corny English slang and then funky music starts plays in the background. In conclusion, if you choose not to see this film it is not a choice that shall be regretted.

Watching this film I realize that there isn't much difference between American teeny bopper flicks and foreign ones: they both suck. Ekin Cheng is a fairly good actor, but his acting in this film is mediocre at best. What's sad is that he's the best actor of the whole movie. Charlene Choi plays a naughty little rebel, and I guess she's suppose to win the audience's heart, but I just thought she was damn annoying. Overall, the acting in this film was sloppily done and I couldn't help but feel that the comedy was forced. The gist of the movie is good: teacher and student secretly get married, but the film does not live up to its potential. There's too many gags for the sake of gags and a bit of cheesiness. There's too many absurd things that happen: a snake attacking a teacher in the gym. Now how likely is that? I just felt that too many superflous things were added to this movie, and there's not enough development of the relationship between Ekin and Charlene. The ending to this movie leaves a stale cheesy bitterness in your mouth when you realize that this is what you wasted 108 minutes of your time. It reminded me of the endings to most of Jackie Chan films-- you know, where he breaks out with the cool english slang and then funky music starts playing in the background? Yeah...What a disappointment and a waste of [money].

Although I am not a fan of either Ekin or Charlene, I enjoyed the movie a lot. It was sweet and very simple. I liked Yo-Yo as she wasn't the typical characters that pop stars would chose as she is not all innocent and pure and I take my hat off for Charlene to take that role. Ekin was very sweet and this story does make you like him more.
