From the director of "Samurai Fiction" comes a spin-off story about ninjas in feudal japan. For those of you who have seen "Samurai Fiction", the ninjas were a great part, full of action and humor. So where could the director go wrong if he did a movie about ninjas?

The story is too long, or at least it feels that way, dragging all the way to the credits. While the first half of the film sets a pace of action and danger, the second half is a slow moving piece about the effects of violence and good vs. evil.

The humor is badly placed in the story and the action is nowhere near "SF's" quality. The one plus side was the director's style of color and lighting play. As "SF" was mostly in b&w, this film explodes with interesting colors and lighting. Sadly that is not enough to save the film.

The director has real talent and I can't wait for his next production, but this one missed the mark by a mile.

This movie was awesome for about 20 minutes, then it turned into a painful endurance test. After a bit of cool ninja action, we are forced to hear endless moaning and moralizing from ninjas who don't want to kill. WTF? Just kill stuff and shut up, you're freaking ninjas! The comedy falls completely flat. A big disappointment, can't believe I finished the whole thing.

"Red Shadow" is just a fun martial arts action movie about three ninjas. Kumiko Aso steals the show as the cute Pink Shadon, Aska. From the director of "Samurai Fiction," if you liked it, you'll definitely enjoy "Red Shadow."

Lacking the intense violence of movies like "Azumi," I would actually suggest that was suitable for even younger viewers.

Y"Red Shadow" was funny, it was a Ninja film with wit. Yes, it is lacking the gory killings, but it makes up with campy jokes.JV47842

From the director of Samurai Fiction. Good story, great action, and some humor inserted just for kicks.
