When I first heard about this film, it sounded like a decent enough idea.. but not necessarily something I'd be all that interested in seeing. I imagined a film that focused on human rights would be very dry, preachy and dismal. So I wound up letting it gather dust on my shelf for a couple of years before checking it out. Surprise- it was much more than that. Though it does have it's share of wince-inducing examples of humankind's inhumanity to one another, it's also witty, thoughtful, imaginitive, eclectic, and at times quite funny. The film is made up of six short films by six different directors, each focusing on a different aspect of prejudice, intolerance, and the strange truth about the pressures society slaps upon the average man and woman. Though some are more powerful, or focused than others, there's not a stinker in the bunch, and it was over before I knew it. Despite the fact that my usual preference is for kung fu action, I really enjoyed this film and would certainly recommend it to one and all.
