Though widely regarded as a classic, we felt this film's pacing and logic were a bit off. And it has not aged very gracefully, thanks largely to its 80s-style score, which feels desperately out-of-place.
The French government fakes the death of a female criminal named Nikita, and imprisons her at their secret training base to become a high-level assassin. But once she is set free to begin her life as a government hit woman, things get very complicated...
Overview:
A female criminal named Nikita is picked up by the police during a botched robbery, and sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance of parole for 30 years. Once in prison, her fierce nature causes her to be selected for intensive training to become an assassin for the government. They fake her suicide and whisk her away to their secret headquarters, where she is literally reborn to begin a rigorous training regimin that includes everything from target practice to table manners. But once she is set free to begin her life as a government hit woman, things become complicated for her. And as her missions become increasingly dangerous, she realizes that she may be stuck on a runaway train that's headed for the end of the line at a breakneck pace.
