A very good film based on a Ku Lung novel done by the dream team of Chor Yuen and Tang Chia. In this film you have beautiful sets, great action, a twisting plot as usual of Ku Lung-based movies, and colorful characters. The plot centers around an all-powerful sword called the Deer Cutting Sword. Ti Lung is great as usual, but what I liked the most was the chemistry he shared with the lovely Ching Li. The ending is strange but that's the case with most Ku Lung-based movies.

This is one of the hardest-to-rate movies ever.

The positive: great action, amazing sets and directed beautifully. The story is full of mysteries that keep you guessing. The story is full of surprises and innovated and ideas.

The negative: I wanted to give this movie 5 stars, but how everything comes together in the end will have you going, "did someone else take over and direct and write the ending?" You never learn why anything happened and why the bad guy did all of the things he did.
