A lighthearted and funny send up of the Japanese adult movie industry. It managed to stay out of the deep waters of serious drama all the way up until the end, where it began to bleed into dramedy territory and I think made the movie suffer some.
Definitely a welcome change of pace from all the domestic fare that peers into the lives of pornstars. They always seem bent on showing how grim and awful they are, but there is a lot of room for comedy there that had never been tapped until "Bastoni" came around. An irreverent and amusing look at the more absurd side of the porn industry and worth a look. |
