Overview:
Most probably the first Hong Kong film to depict college life, "Spring Song" succeeds in conveying a sense of what youth is like. Teenage idols Grace Chang and Jeanette Lin Cui played competitive university freshmen, fighting against each other for almost anything: fame, recognition, and of course guys, who were played by Cathay heart-throbs Peter Chen Hou and Roy Chiao. The film might have been influenced by "Gidget", the forerunner of the Hollywood teenage films that starred Sandra Dee. A star vehicle to further establish the popularity of Chang and Lin, it also displays their various abilities in singing, dancing, archery, water skiing, riding, and ball games.
