| Plot: | When Miri becomes pregnant by a married man with no intention of divorcing, she turns to her ex-boyfriend Higashi for solace. But Higashi has advanced cancer. Aware that his illness is terminal, he promises to try to stay alive until Miri's child is born.

| Overview: | When Miri Yu finds herself pregnant by a married man with no prospect of getting divorced, she turns to her former boyfriend Higashi Yutaka for solace and advice. But Miri discovers that he has an advanced cancer. The two lives in Miri's life begin heading in opposite directions, birth and death. But Higashi doesn't give up without a struggle. He tries all sorts of advanced medical treatments in Tokyo and New York. Miri, meanwhile, decides to have the baby because his illness convinces her that she could not deny a life. Higashi in turn, fully aware that his illness is terminal, promises to try to stay alive as long as possible and to help her raise the child. "I witnessed my own rebirth. I have to live until your child can say my name." Higashi and Miri set about to fulfil his promise.
