ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Indian summer is the summery days that come for a short while in late autumn. Therefore, it has another meaning of 'the happiest time in a person's life.' The woman suddenly approaches a lawyer like a burst of unusual weather. The man appears at the last moment as she gives up on life. Therefore, their love is short but urgent and ardent. I think there may be 'no love that cannot be realized.' It is because having someone in your heart alone is already love. As long as you remember, that love does not die. As long as we remember "Indian Summer" in our hearts...
"It is a story I wanted to tell. I wanted to make a film about memory. What moves this man and woman is not the incident happening at the moment. It is the dormant memory within them. I wanted to bring out the characters' inner sides rather than pursue the structure of the story."
Already an acknowledged screenwriter with her works, "The Eternal Empire," "Just Because You Are A Woman," "Our Twisted Hero" to name a few, "Indian Summer" is the project Director NOH Hyo-jung prepared for a long time as her debut film. The film stands out that much more with its tight story, realistic dialogue, and the depth of its dramatic texture. Also, Noh is self-critical of the courtroom scenes in "Just Because You Are A Woman" saying the details were lacking. This time, in order to maximize the characters' details in the courtroom, a courtroom set was built in order to shoot in diverse angles at various distances. |
