The first of the "Bayside Shakedown" movies follows Aoshima and the team as they attempt to rescue Japan's Police Comissioner, in the three worst days of the Wangan Police Station. If you're a fan of the series, this is a must. For those new to the series, it will make you a fan!

From the moment I had seen the cover of this movie I had been interested in watching it. I had originally presumed it would be an action orientated movie based on the cover art. After some subsequent background information searching I found out it was anything but an action movie. The movie is actually more of a social study on the rigid, corporate-like nature of Japanese society, explored via a study of the Japanese Police System. That said, its more of a sarcastic movie that seeks to poke fun at the system choosing to employ humour and light sarcasm rather than drama to exploit the somewhat ridiculous nature of the corporate-like mentality that is omni-present in Japan. The movie centers on the kidnapping of a police commissioner and the subsequent search for him. This case is interwoven skillfully with two other cases that center on the theft of expense receipts from the Bayside police department and a serial murder investigation of an internet based killer. The film contains some brilliant comedic moments, with what has to be one of the best twists in a movie ending. Suffice it to say that it would spoil the moment to go into any detail, but I laughed my ass off in this particular scene. The overall tone of the movie is very light-hearted sarcasm mixed with some understated humour. It ends up being a very entertaining mix and keeps the viewer thoroughly entertained throughout its somewhat long runtime (this certainly isn't a bad thing in this case). Highly recommend to say the least.
