 | | | | I would go out on a limb and say that this movie is one of Shaw Brothers' best. The story tells of what some Buddhists believe happens with death, life and reincarnation, and I loved every bit of it. But this movie is not for everyone, especially for those who do not know a little about the different sections of Mahayana Buddhism. As for the choreography, WOW!!!!!!!! I wasn't ready for it. It's a must-buy for thinkers and kung fu lovers. And watch out for Lee Yi Min, he is amazing in this flick. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Shaw Brothers Studios tries just about anything! Sometimes it works and sometimes it misses the mark badly! This was better than "Nine Demons" but just as strange. We see many familiar faces, such as David Chiang, Alexander Fu Shing, Karie Hui, and of course the Venom Gang.
The movie chronicles the adventures of Lee I Min as he falls from grace from heaven to earth, then his redemption as he battles his way out of hell. This movie has great action, very bizarre and surreal sets, and some good acting. If you like to try different things, I say give this a look. If you are expecting a martial arts film, this is not for your viewing taste; this movie is more of a martial arts musical/horror film done in the Shaw Brothers style! It keeps your interest by the strange plot and not the action. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | i found the dultish satire to be appealing but indeed this films pacing was tedious | XslaveX | | Y | I would have rated this a little higher because I greatly enjoyed this film. Yes, it is very weird and parts are highly stylized, but it does have some great action and is worth watching solely for the "what the hell is this" factor. | MS10197 |

 | | | | This is an average Venoms film made by Chang Cheh. Its deals with people going to Heaven or Hell when they are deceased. The movie seemed more like a Broadway play than a straight martial arts movie. (It has singing, costume and make-up mixed in with martial arts.) If you have to see all the Venoms films, then you can save this film as the last one to see since there are so many others that are better. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | "Heaven And Hell" is a film that has been said to be very bizarre and very hard to follow. I loved this movie, and for a couple of good reasons. Although there are a couple of different stories going on, it is great to see the Venoms team prior to really becoming the Venoms team. Even the crazy outfits don't ruin the fights scenes with the Venoms. Be on the lookout for Chiang Sheng with the spear that turns into a ring against Lee Yi Min. The sets are a little fake but the nostalgia of such a great team and such a great era of Chang Cheh and Shaw Studios...this movie is not to be missed. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
