I think this is a remarkable film for all ages. The characters are fully developed and seem believable in their roles--the two families are like many families I know. Some with preconceived, prejudiced ideas and beliefs, and some with open minds and hearts.

Learning to get along with others in this life can be difficult for both kids and adults, as this movie portrays. Kids pick up on their parents' beliefs and values--even those unspoken. I think this movie deals with this in a gentle, humourous way. We want our kids to think and act like us, sometimes forgetting that they are also individuals--with minds, values, and beliefs of their own. Often parental discipline can expect blind obedience--lacking in any reasoning or explanations.

As kids begin to search for autonomy and start to question us and the world, life can "open our eyes" to the seriousness that these are young lives that we are molding and shaping. We learn a lot about ourselves as well.

I think this movie takes all this seriousness and portrays and interweaves it into a very delightful, believable story. It is a precious story that touches the heart as it captures the innocence of childhood in a magical way. The young actor, Adiel Stein, is just marvelous in his role as "Pete." I give it 4 stars [out of 5].
