| I would give this film a 3 out of five for those of you looking for a Bad (for those who enjoy bad) Godfrey Ho movie. If you're looking for another Ho/Elton Chong team up I would first try Invincible Obsessed Fighter, or Magnificent Natural Fist. That being said this movie isn't a total snoozer, though some of these scenes are so poorly written and shot in a rambling pace that you will find yourself thinking about the color of your carpet or something untill someone's poorly dubbed voice blares out and gets a laugh out of you. A waterfall fight scene in which someone yells out something about the holy lightning staff of the ancients or something like that comes to mind. This film starts out with stiff dry dialogue and shots of Elton moving around. Doing what? I forget (hardly gripping) as he isn't his usual swaggering self. He starts out as kind of a put upon weenie needing a coming of age. An Elton character (Elton Chong likes to play several roles in his movies I've seen) appears somewhere towards the middle of this one who uses kung fu with his belly, but the camp choice gets old as it keeps bouncing like the energizer bunny. It seems to jump the shark somewhere around here or maybe you just find yourself getting tired at this point. I can handle a vague poorly devised plot so-long as I find myself amused. I suppose this ones got some charm. |
