This was a great vampire story in that "Kolchak The Night Stalker" vein, with Kent Cheng as our intrepid reporter hero who butts heads with the cops over his handling of the case. An excellent balance of humor and horror. I liked that it was a western vampire rather than a hopping vampire because it was a good change of pace, but was handled extremely well. My favorite character in the movie was Wu Ma's lecherous editor character, who stole every scene he was in with his shirtless suit attire and giant glasses. A must-have for fans of vampire movies and fans of HK cinema in general.

"Vampire's Breakfast" is a surprisingly effective HK horror movie with always charismatic "Fatty" Kent Cheng. In a welcome departure from the traditional and formulaic hopping vampire films, the story instead focuses on a bloodsucker more rooted in Western myth and folklore. The result is refreshing and atmospheric, with lots of neon-lit, semi-gothic set pieces, good action and quite a bit of excitement. A somewhat unnecessary love-angel and some slow-paced segments do mar the film somewhat, but this is minor and easily over-looked. Luckily, the film also features its fair share of bloodshed, with a graphic decapitation, melting skin and other assorted fun thrown into an already entertaining mix of horror and cop movie. Gorehounds will rejoice!
