| This 2-disc set contains two versions of the film, as well as the 60-minute documentary, "Document Of The Dead". We'll try to explain the different versions here as best we can.
DISC 1:
This version runs 139 minutes and is in widescreen. This is referred to as George Romero's "US Director's Cut", and has been released on DVD before in the U.S. by Anchor Bay. We won't pretend to know the specifics of the different versions available, and all this is a bit frustrating since Romero claimed he had kept his picture cut exactly as he wanted when it was first released unrated to U.S. theaters with a running time of about 126 minutes. Consequently, there are several "director's cuts" available...
DISC 2:
This version runs 117 minutes, is in full screen, and is billed as Dario Argento's (the film's composer and co-producer) "European Director's Cut". Supposedly this version does not have the humor of George Romero's versions, and has a different score. And the focus is more on action than horror-comedy.
