Plot:	Bernard Rose ("Candyman") directs this 1997 version of Tolstoy's classic novel of romance (and lack thereof) in Imperial Russia.
Overview:	The latest version of Count Leo Tolstoy classic romantic novel, Anna Karenina tells the highly emotional story of Anna, a spirited noblewoman whose life with her cold and much older husband at the peak of Imperial Russian society leaves her lonely and unfulfilled... Until she meets the Count Vronsky, a dashing cavalry officer with a passionate heart. He falls so hopelessly in love that Anna is protestations only serve to inflame his desire. He succeeds in his conquest that Anna abandons her empty existence as a wife and a mother to follow her passion. However, their tempestuous affair soon scandalizes an entire city and changes and touches many lives, including the disillusioned landowner Levin whose marriage to the radiant Princess Kitty flourishes over time, contrasts with the deteriorating relationship between Anna and Vronsky which is destined to end in disaster...
