| Overview: | Yonfan is one of the world's best known and admired photographers. In Bishonen, he takes as a point of departure a recent scandal in which a huge cache of photographs of naked young men were found in the studio home of a rich photographer-playboy. Many of he models were members of the Hong Kong Police Department. It is not the scandal that interests Yonfan, however but the fact of the existence of posing policemen in concert with a number of call boys. The film is a love story set in that world which connects the two.
Jet is the star among gigolos in Hong Kong. One day he meets Sam, the hunkiest cop in the department. Sam appears to be innocent, sweet, and pure; so Jet immediately imitates those qualities as a way to trap sam, but then falls into the trap himself. Sam however has a darker past, and things begin to unravel...
Yonfan is more interested in the creation of beautiful images of beautiful people than in philosophical statements. He is never judgemental or moralistic. Many may well consider the film just delightful entertainment, and it is never less than that and is perhaps much more.
