| An all 'round fun movie which should never be taken seriously, especially with the likes of Tony Leung Chui-Wai and Alan Tam.
The movie starts of with Alan Tam coming back home (from the U.S.) to his father's funeral, to learn that he was assassinated by a scamming con-artist (none other than the voluptuous Christy Chung). Obviously Alan Tam is made unwilling the Head of the Triad Organization and his first mission is to kill his father's assassin--although nothing goes as planned, and eventually he ends up falling in love with her instead. Tony Leung is brought in as a Top-Notch Assassin (most of the time though he acts like a drunk) and trains Alan Tam on the Secret Trade of Killing--although Alan still can't bring himself to assassinate her, and eventually ends up doing the direct opposite and trying to save her from another Gang that is after her.
Overall the movie has enough action / adventure / hilarious comedy to keep the viewer entertained throughout the movie. Although with that said, the movie can be annoying at times with over-the-top acting. Overall, this movie is certainly watchable but is definitely not the best comedy movie from Hong Kong. If you are looking for more superior comedy movies, I suggest "My Lucky Stars", "Winners And Sinners", and "Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars" trilogy, which I am sure you will all agree is probably the best of the best to come out of Hong Kong. |
