American Psycho 2: All American Girl

You know a movie is bad when you and your friends leave the room for the duration of the movie and never pay it any mind. I would have been better off renting..."Rat Race" or something. No stars, I'm sorry, I just couldn't get into this movie.-blastv1 (see my profile) LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| Better than the first one!
American psycho 2, has not much connection to the first one, but I personally think that this one is a lot better anyway. It has a better script and Mila Kunis is one of the elements that make this movie great.
you may find some SPOILERS now!!
The story begins when Rachel Newman (as a little girl) , is about to get killed by the serial killer Patrick Bateman (played by Michael Kremko here) , and she is able to escape and kill him.
Several years later, we see her as a college girl who studies at a very prestigious university. Rachel's big objective is to become Professor Starkman's assistant, and she will kill anyone who dares to face her or stand in her way (including her best friend or her psychologist) .
Mila Kunis's acting will surprise you, if you are used to see her at "That 70's show" playing the sweet and innocent Jackie Besides she plays now a character who has some similarities with Patrick Bateman: she is so work-addict, so elegant, so quiet and cool when she kills someone and so perfect. All this stuff make American Psycho 2 similar to the first one.
I'll give this movie an 8 out of 10. |

 Worse than the first one!
Well, I must stress that I didn't like American Psycho I. I thought it was confusing and ridiculous, but I must write that I liked Christian Bale. He was a great psycho and he made it worthwhile.
Now, that there is a sequel. I wanted to see it, because I thought it was going to be better because the main character was a teenager, but unfortunately it didn't succeed. The girl, though good looking, isn't as scary or convincing as her role demands. Her performance is shallow and she can't do much with the horrible script she was given.
I kept wondering if it was a comedy or a drama. All I know it's very disappointing, and predictable, and not even worth watching. 3/10 -Hernan Amado LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
| Nowhere near as good as the original.
Let me start off by saying, if it wasn't for Mila Kunis I wouldn't have even bothered. I enjoyed the film somewhat. But this doesn't come close to the original. This movie resides somewhere in sequel hell. It has aspects of Exorcist 3, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, most Friday the 13th movies, and Crow: City of Angels. What aspects am I speaking of? Well, like Exorcist 3, it wouldn't have gotten funding without the American Psycho name. Like Crow: City of Angels, it isn't really a sequel but more like a spin-off almost of the first one. Like Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, it takes a great classic powerful movie and almost strips it of all its power by simply being in existence although not to the great extent of the aforementioned Texas #2. And finally, like all Friday the 13th movies it follows the rule that continuity in sequels isn't necessary to start production. For those of you who didn't enjoy the first film, you obviously didn't get it. I got it. And I laughed my ass off from the first frame to the last. This film is different. I'm lured in by my lust for Mila Kunis and my hope that the American Psycho name is a good thing. The snappier parts of dialouge are well-written and well delivered. And did I mention Mila Kunis is really really hot? Other than that, this is like a cheap, watered-down B-movie version of American Psycho. It's worth checking out once. It is nowhere as near as rewatchable as the first film, but still enjoyable. But this is nowhere near the honor of best sequel ever. And for anyone who thinks the director gets more credit for shooting this movie fast...go check out the original Halloween and Evil Dead movies. Halloween was shot in 22 days and is infinitely better. And Sam Raimi does so much more with his budget than Carpenter did for Halloween. And those films were produced at a fraction of the cost of what cost to make this one. |

Dumb, but surprisingly good for a straight to video.
A young girl meets American Psycho Patrick Bateman and kills him, now taking a class that could get her into the FBI she is going to become the teachers assistant no matter who she has to kill to get there. Dumb plot, but surprisingly good for a straight to video flick. I have no idea why this wasn't released in theaters when they can get away with releasing those crap Friday the 13ths which are much worse. ** out of **** -Dave Kaminskas LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
 I really liked it.
A lot of people have said they hated this movie, but I thought it was great. It had pretty much nothing to do with the original movie but it was stood out on its own. The running commentary throughout the movie by Rachel Newman was incredibly amusing. This movie didn't scare me or make me jump but instead it amused me. The cow boy chase music was funny and I loved the entire concept, it was a little far fetched but it was a good movie. I think if you're into movies like this you should go and see it, it was creepy and twisted but amusing at the same time. -Angelina LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| A movie that will both anger you, and make you cry.
Summary of the following review: It's bad.
I remember a short time ago, reading about this movie as it was in production, titled American Psycho 2: The Girl That Wouldn't Die. I was, at first, surprised that they would make such a sequel, but I became increasingly intrigued, as maybe this would be another social satire, another "weird" movie that could occupy two movie buffs for hours in discussion.
Well . . . You know how it goes.
I maintain my theory about fanfiction (fan works written by people off of existing material) being made into movies, just for the sake of making money. This movie . . .
It made me angry. It destroys any message the original had. The writer of this sequel obviously did NOT understand the original Bret Easton Ellis adaptation at all, and thought the purpose of an "American Psycho" was only to kill people. It still manages to amaze me how stupid people can be when it comes to film. The message is right in front of your face, and all you can think about is how cool blood looks splattered across a white carpet.
It's a shame. It's a shame that such a brilliant piece of work could be bastardized by a hack screenwriter (oh, excuse me, FANFICTION author).
This movie, this travesty, is not worth anything. It is not worth a look. It is not worth a glance. It is not worth a moment's thought, and as a result, I "do not wish for a better world for anyone."
If you agree with me, and this movie makes you angry as well, then please, rate it. Let the masses know. Insert intelligence into the world. Do not sit down and take it anymore.
And if you disagree with me . . . you don't have my pity. I'd rather choke. |

Disappointing? YES!!!!
This was a real shame, it has nothing in common with it's parent. They even attempt to capture some of the first movie by including restaurants and a masked Bateman. How could this be allowed? It would not have been so bad if it were released as a stand alone film, but as a sequel to one of the greatest horror movies, it is a disgrace. Lions Gate should be ashamed of themselves. -TalkShowHost LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| First 5 seconds were good. . .
Having been shocked by the first one, I was expecting a much more gory and sexier edition (aren't they supposed to be). In the first 5 seconds of the movie, we see the inside of Bateman's fridge, in which sits a severed head. At that moment, I thought, 'They've captured the essence of the first movie!'. Then after that, Rachel's voice over starts and I'm thinking, okay, they just insulted me.
The worst thing you can do to an audience is assume they're stupid. That's what the voice overs (especially in this case) do. You use them for bad acting/writing/directing. I'm a film student and I understand how scripts work. This COULD'VE worked w/o the voice over. A few more lines here and there and it would've rocked. A little more blood on screen, more grisly murders maybe a naked body or two and you would have been MUCH closer to the original movie that you ended up.
I remember two points where, in Rachel's voice over she states, 'I know it's cliché, but. . .' If you know it's cliché, then why don't you try something that's NOT. Whoever wrote this movie needed someone ELSE to read it before they started shooting.
Bottom line, if you enjoy good movies, DON'T SEE THIS ONE! |

One of the greatest movies of all time.
Forget Lord Of the Rings and Star Wars, because here comes American Psycho 2!!! Filled with incredibly amounts of cross-promotion, American Psycho 2 Truly is one of the best films of all time.
From the extraordinary acting of Mila Kunis to the incredible plotlines, the movie gets better and better with each passing minute... I encourage EVERYONE to watch this intellectually stimulating piece of cinema. -Julia Przybyla LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
 Disney's best effort so far!!
This film wasn't quite what I was expecting, but if you have kids, this is definitely a must see for the family. A rip-roaring comedy, paying close homage to the Mickey Mouse Club, it has something for everyone. Hilarious!!

| Surprisingly entertaining!
I just finished watching American Psycho 2, and I'm happy to say that I don't feel like I've wasted 90 minutes of my life. The plot of the film can loosely be described as a sequel to American Psycho, but only as Urban Legends: Final Cut can be called a sequel to Urban Legend. The lovely and talented Mila Kunis does a terrific job in the lead role. I hope that this will only be the first of many for her. It's a shame that this film didn't receive a theatrical run though. Even a limited one would have sufficed. Oh well... All in all, I would definitely recommend renting it. It's both funny and gory, what more could you ask for? Just a word of warning to fans of the first film and Christian Bale: This film contains flashback scenes involving the character of Patrick Bateman. But, they are not scenes from the first film, nor does Mr. Bale play the part of Patrick Bateman. No need to fear though, you can't see his face very well and he doesn't speak.
This has to be one of the most enjoyable direct to video Lions Gate titles that I've seen thus far. I wouldn't call it 'quality entertainment', but come on, it has William Shatner as a college professor/Ex-FBI agent. Go Captain Kirk! So, THUMBS UP to this one! Yeah! |

 SUCKS.
This is worse than awful, it is a complete waste of space. Please don't call it a sequel to anything other than s...!!! Couldn't and still can't figure out if they tried to make it a funny movie or if they really meant it like a serious movie. Either way they failed BIG TIME; bad acting, bad plot, bad dialogue and a complete waste of space!! -Nikolaj Friis Hansen LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| Did the writer of this film even see the first one?
I thought American Psycho was brilliant. All those murder scenes were so over the top, I kept asking myself if the movie sucked or was it all not real. This is my dilemma with the second movie. Well, part of it anyway. Bateman didn't actually kill anyone, as those of you who saw the movie (or read the book by Brett Easton Ellis), all his murders were just imaginary. He was a 1980's yuppie who was driven out of his mind by his lifestyle and fantasized about a more primal existence, i.e. killing people. So how the hell can Mila Kurtis survive him when he never actually killed anyone? Secondly, and this may have been answered in the movie (my brain shut off once I got an idea of the plot), but doesn't the film take place now? How can she be a survivor of Bateman's fake massacre. She's only in her 20's, so she's not even be a teenager when it all happened. This doesn't make any damn sense at all. Shame on Morgan J. Freeman for trying to capitalize on Morgan Freeman's name, and for tarnishing the name of a fantastic movie with a dreadful sequel. But hey, it's better than House IV. 1/2 out of 10, just because I know they at least spelled the names right in the credits. |

 Slice, Dice, And. . .Cut!
American Psycho 2, obviously, is the sequel to American Psycho. It begins with our heroin Mila Kunis escaping the clutches of psychopath Pat Bateman.. . .hmmm. . .Whoever wrote this movie missed the whole point of American Psycho 1. Patrick Bateman wasn't a killer. He was a rich yuppie who just wanted to fit in. All his murders were his own fascinations. I could not get past the first 1/2 hr of this movie, especially since I loved the original, and the book of the original, so much. -Matt Iacono LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| They had no right!!!!!
First of all, American Psycho was one of my favorite films, and the sequel, killing off Patrick Bateman's character for a wimpy girl character is excruciating. American Psycho 2 is nothing but boring teen trash. They have taken all the psychological suspense from the original and changed it to nothing more than a badly plotted teen slasher. Its all stupid really. If notable for anything the beginning was ok as we see Bateman's character slayed off. From there it goes straight downhill. The cover looked appealing to me as well, but at the time I didn't know the plot and I wasted my money and my time. This is possibly the worst film I have seen all year. It is a movie that tries to be eerie and can't. It doesn't have the suspense or the power of the original and the worst thing is, they killed off Patrick Bateman's character in which I was hoping for him to be in a sequel. Don't waste your time. I rate 1/5. |

The Greatest Movie of all Time?
Ahhhh.....where do I start?
This was an excellent movie. Nothing Oscar material, but definitely worth the time. Morgan J. Freeman did a great job in the directors chair, and the leads with Mila Kunis and Bill Shatner were superb. Shatner fitted his role excellently and Mila Kunis was extremely sexy [did anyone else spend five minutes on freeze frame just to look at her in that dress?] The plot seemed slow and confusing at some points, but all the mystery leading up until the final few scenes was pretty good.
My only complaint is that it was too short only about eighty or ninety minutes long. Anyway, I highly recommend this movie, it's worth your money and time. -Samir Duran LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
One of the worst movies ever.
American Psycho was a pretty good movie - not my cup of tea, but better than average - American Psycho 2 on the other hand is one of the worst movies ever. Take all that was great from the original; style, class, confusion etc and throw them all away, only to replace them with gore, a weak plot and terrible acting and you've got American Psycho 2.
If the above sounds harsh then I'm sorry but I can't recommend anyone against this movie enough. William shatner was the best thing in the movie - if that doesn't tell you how bad it is then nothing will. -Richie LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| Did anyone read a script?
OMG! Whatever! To steal a common exclamations from as many teenage films as have been made since "Clueless" this film is diabolical. The only reason it seems to make it to feature length at all is the scenes within scenes that are pointless ennui: Who actually cares where the doctor and his mother sit while in the restaurant speaking to a waiter - who god only knows how he managed to blow his part up to such a gargantuan size (wow its his first day at work - woo pee do). Nobody really seemed to notice the missing people conveniently until the 'dramatic' conclusion and it wasn't until after "Rachel Newman" was killed that her number one enemy was discovered, stabbed, in the library. And lets just try and forget the "Comedy Music Sample #1" Soundtrack and consider the script: Who would agree to have ANYTHING to do with a movie that is almost 50% voice over?
PS: How is this in anyway related to "American Psycho" either the novel or the movie?
PPS: The mother was my only salvation esp. when she started spraying the flies with her perfume. How daring of Lynne Deragon to ACT in this movie! |

| Good but not exactly original.
American Psycho 2 is only really American Psycho in name. In the beginning it shows how Patrick Bateman (the crazed yuppie murderer of the original) met his end at the hands of a little girl (!). Although it has the same sort of humor as the first and the main character thoughts are told through a voiceover you can't help feeling this film just stole the name for some extra rentals. The connection to the original seems forced and the way they dealt with the original psychopath is just annoying. I find it unbelievable that a man responsible for the deaths of probably a hundred people up to that point would die at the hands of a little girl, who would barely be able to plug up the courage to move during the torture and murder of her babysitter before her very eyes let alone thrust a sharp object hard enough into a fully grown, and insane, man to kill him. For me the best part of the original was the fact that at the end his acts went unpunished and he just got away with it all, to kill him is just silly and detracts from the original. Other than that it's a good film, even if it is just a regular teen slasher flick without the whodunit element and stupid masks. The girl (forget her name) is good but the former Captain Kirk steals the show really. Give it a watch but just don't expect something as brilliant as the original and ignore that part where Bateman is killed, pretend you never saw it. Works for me. |
