A mix of horror and samurai swordplay, this was pretty entertaining. I've been very used to seeing Sonny Chiba in the role of Yagyu Jubei in multiple films, so it took a little getting used to seeing somebody else play one-eyed Jubei.
The actor playing Jubie here doesn't have quite the same presence as Chiba, but he still does a respectable job in the role, and there are plenty of good fight scenes.
I recommend getting this in addition to Samurai Reincarnation to compare how the two versions tell essentially the same story. |
