Rating may be high but this first flick by Gosha simply works. The characters and their interactions are on a par with the Zatoichi series. A political story here helps generate rooting interest. While the film feels a little 'dated' and 'TV' now (Gosha had just come from TV and the scale of the film is contained), nevertheless this is good chambarra. The 'trio' work well together, and while this is not a grand-scale epic, it is worthy of multi-viewings. |
