This is a documentary about LMF (Lazy MuthaFuckaz), a rock/rap group from Hong Kong. I didn't know anything about this group before the movie and, honestly, don't know that much after.

You get a basic understanding of how they came together and what they're about, but the group isn't dissected or analyzed in a critical way. Their "controversial" label seems to be derived from profanity, yet you don't get any real ideal of how their profanity is perceived culturally in HK. You don't get views from people who oppose them or news clips condemning them just the band explaining themselves. You also don't get views from the fans. Those are the people who would normally be the most passionate.

Some of the band members talk about life in the "public estates" which sounds like the projects, but who knows, we never get a view of the estates. A better documentary would have filmed some footage of the guys in their old stomping grounds. One member is even from Australia (Asian Aussie) but that info is basically over looked in the film.

The music is good (if the genre is your taste) but brief in terms of the movie. There are extended performances as bonuses but they lack subtitles. This leaves an incomplete picture in the minds of viewers (at least the ones who aren't bilingual) because you don't grasp the meaning of the songs. It makes it hard to say if they're really saying something or just capitalizing on trends.

I'm intrigued but not satisfied by this movie. The music is enjoyable. I'd just like to see more of LMF, at least enough to figure them out. There are some interesting stories. One band member talked about watching some thug chop a guys arm off. HOLY SHIT! There's some interesting stuff here but not enough to be enjoyed by a casual viewer.
