The 36 Deadly Styles All Content Used With Permission. ![]() ![]() ![]() This movie is pretty poor. Even by independent kung fu movie standards. Cheung Lik is uninteresting as a leading man. Bolo looks ridicilous in that awful dreadlock wig. And the whole thing just looks cheaper than usual. But at least the fights deliver... right? Wroooong...! The Jack and Mark Long fight is really a subpar effort for them. And even the finalé with the great Hwang Jang Lee is disappointing. Joseph Kuo has made his share of cool indie kung fu classics. This is NOT one of them. ![]() Joseph Kuo is one of my favorite kung fu film directors, but this movie was a bit stupid! The Long brothers fight scene was the only thing good about this movie! And seeing two guys in western women's wigs was funny! ![]() Very bad movie with awful fights scenes.
![]() With a name like "The 36 Deadly Styles" and the accompanying box art, your mouth starts to water. Yet you will likely be somewhat disappointed. The fighting in the first and middle reels is good, but not great. I found myself fast-forwarding through most the film --- a bad sign. The plot is passable. Things get rockin' in the final reel and really rockin' in the last few minutes. Is that enough to buy the film? Add fan-favorite Jack Long to the mix, and you'll probably want this one.
