Transfer:
Megastar has really outdone themselves here. Having only seen one of their anamorphic DVDs in the past (Princess D), I wasn't expecting much here, but good lord- they blew me away. Besides one or two minor scratches, which are barely noticeable, this transfer holds up with the best HK has to offer and stands up to most of Mei Ah's new releases.

Sound:
Same can be said for the sound. Available in English Dolby Digital and English DTS (also dubbed Cantonese DD), I of course went for the DTS. The soundtrack is very good, with some heavy bass here and there for added effect (witness the last fight scene). The surrounds are given a little workout and everything comes through clean and clear (including the occasional moments of bad dialogue).

Subtitles:
Guess what? You don't need any! The film was shot in English.

Extras:
Nothing much here besides the basics, but the making-of featurette is interesting to watch and the best part is: it's in English (with Ching Siu Tung and Jewel Lee speaking Chinese, unsubtitled)! It's fairly informative and a worthy addition for anyone who enjoys the movie.

Overall:
This film is review-proof. Much of the acting is poor (we still love you Daniel! And Maggie: you can give me one of those lethal back massages anytime!), but the directing is fantastic, the action scenes are exciting, and the movie is quickly paced. This all makes for an enjoyable movie that would probably best be served being watched by a group of friends. The DVD is cheap, so if you're even remotely interested, buy it.

TECH NOTES:
Flawless anamorphic, widescreen print. White English subtitles are easy to read and do not contain noticeable errors. The audio tracks are presented in Dolby Digital and DTS Surround. Dual language extras include a synopsis, a Making Of featurette, a teaser & trailer, cast profiles, and a photo gallery containing 20 images.

Overall a very good product for a Hong Kong company. The picture and sound transfer is very well done, on par with many Hollywood releases. There isn't much for extras (though the featurette is at least somewhat interesting, even if it isn't subtitled in parts), but I'd take a disc with a good presentation and spare goodies rather than a shoddy one with a lot of extras any day of the week.
