This movie is graphic enough and has plenty of swordplay.-TH46339 (see my profile) LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!

| Bruce Lee was a god. Donnie Yen is a damn pimp. And "The 36th Chamber" is a classic. Now that I have your undivided attention let me tell you about my favorite samurai movie. "Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance" is a straight up masterpiece of sword slashing, limb chopping , unyeilding phunk. This movie makes "Kill Bill" look like a slow supervised walk in Mr. Roger's neighborhood. When boiled down to the absolute essentials it is the tale of a man, his kid, his sword and those poor bastards that are foolish enough to stand in their way. The sword fights in this film are exceptional and expertly choreographed. This movie oozes passion, poetry and fluidity. If you have good eyes for choreography look for the technique in one of the big fights toward the end where Ogami Itto(the protagonist) unsheathes his sword, cuts some chump down and resheathes his blade- all in under a second flat! Name another actor that can pull off that smoothness. I didn't think so. This movie is one of my absolute necessities and I recommend it to anyone interested in a superb yet graphically violent piece of samurai cinema. |
