Kui and his family are intent upon emigrating to another country, but Kui falls ill, spoiling his family's plan. Eventually, his family decides to stay behind and start a new life.
Keung is a smart and aggressive young man whose ambition is to make it in the world. But misfortune descends upon him when he discovers that he and his family have been duped by his boss. He decides that the boss must be taught a lesson.
Chung takes a job directing traffic and handing out tickets to unfortunate drivers amid the hustle and bustle of the street. However, realizing that his virtue is not appreciated, he quits and finds fulfillment fighting against corruption in the commissioner's office and later even helps to have Keung's boss apprehended.
Wing is a diligent and self-absorbed student. His goal is to be one of the chosen few at his college's music department, but he is dissuaded and studies to become a doctor. At a college concert, seeing the fruits that his friends are enjoying, Wing's impulses get the best of him: he decides to break loose from everything and take the stage with his three buddies.
