The Eye All Content Used With Permission. ![]() ![]() The Pang Brothers' greatest film. Very creepy, dark, and unsettling with effective scares. ![]() ![]() ![]() "The Eye" is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. This movie is very scary at times but it never loses the very well developed story. The acting is incredible, with wonderful characters that really make you feel the story. I believe this is possibly that greatest horror film I have ever seen and would suggest it to anyone that loves a great ghost story. ![]() This movie done by the Pang Brothers makes you think twice about Chinese horror movies not being scary. A must-see. ![]() ![]() This is one creepy ghost film from Hong Kong. Both the ghosts and the scares were pretty effective. Highly recommended if you're a fan of ghost horror films! ![]() A suspenseful, thrilling ride, easily as good if not better than the Grudge (which personally I enjoyed more than The Ring-original versions). Just as you think it may end with no closure at all, the fashion in which many eastern films tend to...the viewer's ride speeds forward still. The Eye is also quite stylish and well filmed. ![]() This film has its terrifying moments resulting from excellent set-up and execution of some sequences, but suffers overall from a poor script. If we had been given more of a sense of the meaning of Mun's visions or the events behind them, it would have been more engaging. The trip to Thailand and events there didn't seem to flow naturally from the earlier events in the film. "The Eye" is a good addition to my collection of Asian films but falls slightly short of greatness. ![]() I would have given this film a 10 [out of 5 stars] if I could. Well what can I say...magnificent! Stunningly shot and none of this Hollywood "in your face" horror, this film gets under your skin big time--even thinking about it now gives me a shiver. I am a huge fan of Asian films, I've yet to see a Western film that meets my standards of films like "Ring", "Audition", "Battle Royal", and of course "The Eye". Trust me: if you enjoy great actors, emotional plots, and a good scare; "The Eye" is for you. ![]() This movie is really cool. It's not a gore-fest or typical slasher flick by any means. In fact, it's damn near realistic. I wasn't too crazy about how the whole story becomes complete at the end, it just felt a little too comfortable. Leaving a few pieces out of the puzzle would allow the viewer to fill in the gaps. Still, it was really cool. Some of the scenes scared the crap out of my wife, who claims to be able to feel spirits around her. Even my own heart skipped a beat or two there. Good film! Check it out! ![]() This film has so many genres, it sometimes scares you but it's also such a beautiful film. It's well worth wathching. You will not want to get out of your seat once this film starts, it's just an amazing story!! ![]() This film is an amalgam of other (old, unoriginal, and blatantly American) ideas: Body Parts (an old Jeff Fahey film), The Sixth Sense, and The Mothman Prophecies; all of which are better than The Eye. With an unremarkable cast, completely forgettable cgi, and an incredibly drawn out ending, this film is not worth buying. There are two scenes that are slightly scary, but EVERY horror movie worth talking about is gonna have two slightly scary scenes. I sat down to watch this movie in the dark, I was excited about being scared, because I had heard so much about it, it did not live up to any of the hype. The production quality is reasonable, and the picture quality is wonderful, but that's about it. Watch the aforementioned American films that came first, all on the same night, and you've saved yourself 25 bucks on purchasing a rather boring, forgettable film. ![]() This was one of the best horror movie I have seen for a long time! The plot is good, so was the cast and it was just brill. I love the way that you don't get to know she doesn't see herself in the mirror until the psychatrist (sorry can't spell!) shows her a photo of her to her. Brill. ![]() "The Eye" is probably one of the scariest movies ever made. The Pang brothers has really succeded on making a blast of a horror movie. The movie takes on a blind woman surgicaly implanting new eyes, in which she starts to see things that normal people don't. After tons of nerve-crushing scenes, the audience witnesses some fine CG effects. The movie has a catchy soundtrack that will make the hair on your arms stretch. Definitely worth checking out. ![]() This movie was intelligent and a good bit scary. You had to feel for the young woman's predicament, and that of the girl who had the "gift" before her. Unlike "The Ring", "The Eye" won't need an American version to generate a following. ![]() This is a five star horror movie. Buy it. Watch it by yourself. Don't read anything more that makes any mentioning of the scenes. :) The director (Pang brothers) had spent an immense amount of attention on colors, angles, and every other horror film editing that's up to date. The scenes matches very well with the soundtrack, and the acting for all the key scenes are top notch. (Can't say much for some of the other casts.) If you don't know much about this movie, great. Spend the money and just watch it. It'll be a long, long time until another horror movie this good get released in the theatres. ![]()
