Some of you may not enjoy this film due to the fact that it's one of those movies that Jackie Chan isn't well known for. In "Dragon Fist", he doesn't screw around at all, and this film has a very serious approach to it since he plays a student out for revenge for his master's family and honor. The fights are really well set and brutal, and we see why this man is a legend. This isn't one of those regular Jackie Chan films, but this is certainly a great Jackie Chan film.

This was not one of Jackie Chan's best movies. The fight scenes were okay, but the movie was a little boring. I guess I am used to a little more fighting styles in his movies. Don't rush to buy this movie.

It's Jackie Chan in his physical prime, and his physical abilities are quite impressive, but he is not all that well cast. This seems to have been an early attempt to move him beyond the mischievous student role he had played many times: That's a fine idea, but he didn't yet have the acting chops to pull it off. I don't know of any film before "Heart of Dragon" in which he is up to it.

I wouldn't want to put anyone off of buying or viewing this film, but Jackie Chan has many more satisfying films to offer.

One of my favorite Jackie Chan films from his seventies period. This is a straight revenge flick! No Kung Fu comedy from Jackie just pure acting! The fight scenes are good, and the over all plot is interesting with a few definite twists. Add the beautiful Nora Miao, James Tien, and director Lo Wei, all three from Bruce Lee's first two films and you can't go wrong!

YI agree with your assessment of this film. The lack of comedy and the excellent action make it one of the best of this period.MS10197

This film is absolutely unique in comparison to all other films starring Jackie Chan, ever. There is absolutely no comedy in this film; I can't even recall one joke. Frankly, this is a very welcome change from other Chan vehicles of this period, such as the abysmal "Spiritual Kung Fu", Half a Loaf of Kung Fu" and "Fearless Hyena 2.

Though the plot is thin and predictable, the hard-hitting and well-choreographed fight scenes should be enough to satisfy Chan and old school kung fu fans. However, make sure you get the uncut version, rather than the heavily-butchered version previously available on DVD in the US.

One of Jackie's better movies. I recommend it over a lot of his silly comedy movies.

Dragon Fist is a movie, where Jackie has no comedy and the whole movie is serious. Jackie's character is angry all the time and goes only for vengeance which is not very suitable for him. But as a kung fu movie it is not bad at all. The choreography is very well done so any kung fu fan can be satisfied. Especially when the movie is in widescreen format.

Great Jackie Chan film because you see him in a less comedic role for once.

This is not your standard kung fu revenge movie. The movie begins with a celebration of a tournament. Yuan's (Jackie Chan) Master has won after fighting numerous contestants. A man shows up and insists he should have a chance to fight even though the winner has been determined. The Master finally agrees even though exhausted and the match turns ugly. The Master surrenders, several times but the challenger continues to pummel him relentlessly. Yuan attempts to break up the fight but is hit too. Finally the crowd manages to seperate them. The Master is severely injured but before he dies he tells Yuan to take care of his wife and daughter.

Nearly two years later they make the long journey to seek revenge. When the widow sees the killer has cut off one of his legs as penance she refuses to let Yuan take revenge.

They plan to go back home immediately but the widow falls ill. The doctor tells Yuan nothing can be done with his medicines but the Wei family has a secret potion that just might help. Yuan goes to the Wei family not knowing there is a feud between them and the man he came to kill. The Wei clan are tyrants and mobsters. They control nearly everything and need men who can enforce their criminal deeds. But Yuan doesn't know that when he agrees to work for Wei in exchange for medicine for the widow. It seems as though every time they attempt to return home she becomes more seriously ill. When she discovers Yuan is working for Wei in order to get her medicine she can't allow it.

There are several plot twists that would not usually be expected in a movie of this genre. To be sure there are enough hard core fights to keep viewers satisfied but will keep fans guessing about who the villains really are, or are they?

This revenge-oriented kung-fu flick starring a young Jackie Chan has an interesting twist, as the killer of the Jackie's master deliberately cripples himself out of remorse.

However, this other master has an enemy in a local crime boss. The latter deviously exploits Jackie's character (named Yuan) to take down the crippled leader's martial clan once and for all, and this drives the plot of the movie and Yuan's growing crisis of conscience.

Ultimately though, in a cliche common to many films, the bad guys explain their evil plan in detail. This allows the shocked widow to commit suicide, and thus giving Yuan the opportunity to finally take on the bad guys, no longer being entrapped to choose between killing the whole family of the crippled clan chief in exchange for the widow's life.

Perhaps some might think the ending was a little too neat. For me, it came as quite a relief. Aside from the plot, the fight scenes were also very well choerographed.

This is one of my all time favorite Jackie Chan movies. The fights throughout the movie not just the last 20 minutes are spectacular! I love the way Jackie fights in this movie so no nonsense and the story is pretty intricate for a kung fu movie. This is a must for any true Kung fu movie fan.

The fight scenes in the last 20 minutes were great. But at time you would lose track what side everyone was on.
