Don't believe any bad reviews you read about this movie. There are a lot of underlying themes to this movie, so don't let the extreme showmanship of the images on the screen throw you for a loop. This is one of my favorite movies. If you don't get it the first time you're not getting it. Hit a bbs, they'll explain it to you or me. No joke, top list.

In "Visitor Q", director Miike manages to outdo himself in terms of sheer outrage. From the almost real-time opening scene, where a businessman finds his own daughter working as a prostitute and proceeds to sleep with her, to the jaw-dropping finale, this is a dark and depraved tale.

There were times in this movie when I laughed out loud at some of the comedic but excessive scenes. Miike doesn't just break taboos in this film, he shatters them into minuscule fragments and stomps on them again for good measure. Body fluids are splashed here, there and everywhere in this movie and primal urges are let loose with complete moral abandon.

"Visitor Q" is unlike some art-house movies where scenes are designed just to shock the viewer. This film is genuinely entertaining (in a slightly sordid way).

Even the brief appearance of a boom mike in one scene didn't spoil my enjoyment of this original, transgressive film. It's nothing short of a masterpiece and I applaud the BBFC for letting this through uncut in the UK.

For fans of Miike, this is unmissable.

"Visitor Q" has it all to shock and amaze. The story is clear: a dysfunctional family--which, in my point of view, represents all of the moral values fucked up by today's chaotic, non-sense, empty and yet modern society--come together thanks to a stranger who helps them to free the real demons that they have been repressing by "acting normal".

My closing for this excellent movie after viewing it: the righteous way to be is represented by a nice and tasty gallon of milk. "Visitor Q" is the fire that will heat this liquid, so fast you would not notice when the milk spilled--be warned, the mess may not be to your liking.

One of the best movies ever made--no need for fancy cameras, etc., just handheld brilliance. Takashi outdid himself again--a dark comedic portrayal of a twisted Japanese family before and after the entrance of a mysterious stranger. A must for any collector of the darker side of cinema.

This is the worst Miike film I've seen. I haven't seen many, truth be told, but I loved "Ichi The Killer", "Audition", "Fudoh", "Box", etc.

This one is pretty retarded, it shocks without any entertainment. I mean, "Ichi" had shocking moments in it, like that unnecessary, senseles rape-nipple slicing-murder scene, but at least it was entertaining and funny at times, the story was kind of crazy but made sense.

This one is a boring, pretentious piece of crap. I'm so glad this wasn't the first film I saw by Miike, because otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with any other.

And I'm not saying this because I'm easily offended or grossed out (I did enjoy "Nekromantik", for instance), the film was just a stupid catalog of perversion without anything else to offer. And I don't necessarily need things to make sense (I love Bunuel, Jodorowsky, Lynch, Miike's own Gozu, etc.), but I do like to enjoy movies, even if they're hardcore, like "Irreversible" or "Audition", both of which had absolutely horrible moments in it, but had so much more to offer than this stupid piece of crap.

The one redeming quality is the cast, they deliver good performances, and the daughter is gorgeous. FX are cool, but I still wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I fucking hated it.

After viewing Takashi Miike's "Fudoh", "Audition" and "Itchi The Killer" I was expecting to be horrified with what "Visitor Q" had in store. Matter in fact, I was expecting to be more than horrified. Now that I've seen it, I've come to the conclusion that "Visitor Q" not only met my expectations, but also surpassed them by miles. Describing this film as "demented" is being way too lenient - truthfully, I can't find the right words. Why don't I put it this way, I'm surprised this film isn't banned. Even after reading what I've just wrote about "Visitor Q", you'll still be in dumfounded with what you'll see. Truthfully, I don't remember the last time I looked away and yelled "ughhhhh!".

If you're planning to watch it in the near future, I can offer you a good way to prepare yourself:

1. Get a notepad and something to write with.
2. Start writing down letters (from A-Z) vertically.
3. For each letter, come up with a sinful word or words that starts with that letter.

Example 1: M. Murder, Mayhem
Example 2: P. Prostitution, Puke
Example 3: R. Rape, Rotten

Keep in mind that most of the words you come up with will be explored in the movie, consider that a fair warning.

So, is "Visitor Q" a cool movie? Yes. Takashi Miike, once again, has proved that he is one of the most diverse, talented and fucked up filmmakers of our time. If the film wasn't so...so...well, you know, it would have gotten a higher rating - but it's definitely an experience.

I'm a pretty big Miike fan and I like my exploitation cinema, too; but I found this too much to cope with. I guess if this was made with the sole intention to shock (and it probably was) then it works. Sometimes it's so over-the-top that you can't help but snigger to yourself, but it still dosen't have the right to claim 90 or so minutes of your life, plus I hate the digital video look anyway. Check out "Audition", "City Of Lost Souls", "Happiness Of The Katakuris" et al. instead.
