Sadly the film has yet to get the DVD release it deserves. On this disk the film is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Unfortunately the remastered subtitles are burnt in such a way that you can't expand the picture on a widescreen tv without losing them off the bottom of the screen. The print appears to be relatively clean but then picture detail is so poor that you probably wouldn't be able to see the marks anyway; the picture is very soft and colours appear washed out. People have compared this DVD to the VCD release but it is a definite improvement, just not by much.

The soundtrack is a single Dolby Digital 2.0 Cantonese track that is functional with some occasional distortion. The only extra feature present on the disk is the original theatrical trailer.

The DVD features a beautiful, crisp, colorful transfer with rich blacks, and little damage. Although the subtitles are imbedded, they are not the tiny, hard to read white ones found on the VHS and VCD versions of the film. They are vastly improved, grammatically correct, white subs with a dark border. The DVD comes with an insert, listing the 20 titled chapters, that opens into a full color mini print of the very cool original theatrical poster. A nice little bonus.
