There are interviews with film critic Roger Ebert, director Takahata, and several experts on Japanese culture. I found the interview with Ebert especially interesting, as he describes his first reaction to the movie and analyzes aspects of it. Ebert admits he isn't too knowledgeable about anime, but his insights are still quite interesting.

There are also stills, storyboards, and trailers. In short, there's plenty of stuff to spend hours with. Although not as extensive as the "Akira" special edition that came out awhile ago, this is still an impressive collection. If you own the original DVD release, give it to your friend and buy this one for yourself. Or better yet, buy one for your friend as well. I doubt either of you will regret it.
