| This film is based on a film by Siburapha, which was the pen name of Kulap Saipradit (1905-1974). He was a humanitarian who often helped others, including distributing food and other aid to flood victims in Thailand's poor, flood-prone northeast. The Thai Government deemed this subversive and pro-Communist, eventually arresting Saipradit in 1952. He spent four years in prison, after which he traveled to China. Learning that far right-winger, Sarit had taken political control in Thailand, Siburapha spent the remaining 16 years of his life in exile. |
