HKFLIX NOTE: This DVD offers the film in its uncut letterboxed form, with all the scenes originally intended by the directors. The Region 1 version printed in the USA, is cropped to Full Screen and is missing some of the violent scenes. The following is a list of memorable scenes missing from the cut version, courtesy of Scott Morris:

"The [USA] version I bought...had no extra features and was also non-widescreen format. the production quality of the DVD was poor in general.

"As for the cut scenes, approimately 37 seconds are missing. It may not sound like a lot, but it was the necessary realism of the shootings/stabbings that made this film stand out from the crowd. I left the Cinema in Thailand (November 1999) thinking wow that film was so real.

"Almost all the violent scenes are edited out by a second or two or replaced with a black blank screen with only the sound remaining. One scene where the character Kong hacks a jungle knife into the side of a gang leader's neck is missed out. All you see in the [USA] version is Kong reaching for his knife and the film is cut leaving a blank screen.

"Another edited scene that I remember was when Kong and Fon almost get mugged in a park. Kong pulls out his gun. The shooting in this scene was awesome. The cut version just looks mediocre.

"Really is a shame they decided to cut out the realism and the shock. This for me was the main reason I thought that this film would become a classic--like Reservoir Dogs was when it was first released."
