This is a great action film with some great martial arts sequences. The flashy Tan-Tao Liang gets a partner in his real-life younger brother, Tan Tao-Chien, who has similar fighting skills somewhat as his brother. While Tao-Liang does all the flashy footwork, Tao-Chien does a little bit as well, but I guess he didn't want to make big brother look bad, so he also added some ground kicks in his fights. You can see a similar resmeblance when you see the two together. Lung Fei, another usually good kicker, is wasted as the warlord Wen Tai. This was such a shame, as many who know of Fei's kicking, would have wanted to see a superkicking duel. Oh well...look out for a gross out cannibalistic like scene thanks to a black magician who puts the wrong spell on himself and kills gang leader Blackbone, played by veteran villain actor Tsai Hung. Aside from that horrific scene, this is a nice little chop socky film, one of Tao-Liang's last before retiring to teach taekwondo in L.A. |
