| Old school haunted house movie where little happens in the entire movie.
The premise reminded me a little of the movie "House Of Long Shadows", which was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. It had Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, and John Carradine all together in one movie about a writer who takes a bet to spend the night in the house and spooky things happen. Same idea here but without all the big names, interesting plot devices, or thrills. It does have lots of atmosphere and cobwebs and does have a different take on ghosts, but nothing happens for incredibly long stretches of time, and when things actually happen they are over as soon as they start.
If you want a gothic style haunted house movie without all the big bang scares and gore you find in modern haunted house movies, and instead want loads of atmosphere, you might want to check this out. But don't be surprised if you become quickly bored by it. |
