A small-budget gem that pulls no punches!

Devil's Nightmare has been praised for it's cinematography and its sexy portrayal of the Devil's succubus by Erika Blanc. It has also been panned as a cheap, lousy, bomb of a foreign slasher movie released only as a front for a kinky skin flick! Either opinion misses the point completely: The wages of SIN is DEATH! Devil's Nightmare is one of the few movies where the evil wins! Why? Because of man's choice to disobey God and commit deadly transgressions! Anyone who knows ANYTHING about God's word knows that repentance and forgiveness are needed for the right relationship with our heavenly father! Sin will lead to DEATH! The plot itself proceeds from Sin: Baron VonRomberg brings a curse upon his family by his affair with his housekeeper. The illegitimate child returns 25 years later as an instrument of death and destruction: a beautiful, sexy succubus! That same evening 7 travelers are stranded at the eerie VonRomberg castle: the driver and 6 others-one a young priest! After dinner the 7 are shown to their rooms and warned of the family curse! During the night each awakens to commit one of the "seven deadly sins" and each one is killed by the succubus upon the commission of that sin! The priest attempts to make a "deal" with the "Devil" for the souls of his dead companions! The priest awakens from his dream! After breakfast the Baron is fatally injured and makes a deathbed confession to the priest of his affair. He is granted absolution! As the travelers leave the castle the priest and the "succubus" wave from the balcony of the castle-in horror they watch the bus drive over a cliff and burst into flames on the beach below! The "Devil" looks to the "succubus" as she embraces the priest. They smile. The wages of sin-DEATH!

Low Budget Entertainment

I recently had an opportunity to see this film. My video title was Succubus. Let me first write about the faults within this film, then lavish it with some praise. The lighting on my video copy was very poor - very dark and poorly lit. The actors are a bit wooden and the story is just preposterous. It concerns these seven tourists, each supposedly representing a Deadly Sin, staying a night at a castle that has this terrible curse on it about a former owner that made a pact with the devil. At times, the story was hard to follow and at others incredibly predictable. Yet, despite these obvious flaws, the movie is very engrossing. The staging of the film, along with some innovative camera work, kept my interest as did the beautiful feminine forms of Blanc and the rest of the female cast. The music was also unique and haunting in its way. The real star of the film, however, must be the castle. It is huge and full of medieval splendor. I would recommend this film as an entertaining diversion. The actor that plays the devil is worth seeing alone.
