| Overview: | If you happen to be a woman in this brutal age of witch hunters, your life can be a short and unpleasant one. Worse, if you are suspected of witchcraft, your death can be slow and horrible, preceded by torture and interrogation. And, worst of all, it's very difficult to prove that you are NOT a witch.
Some of the king's many investigators take perverse pleasure in their work and are not above torturing and abusing innocent women for their own amusement. Since they have the blessing of the crown, they are beyond reproach, and their methods do seem to be effective. Still, it's obvious to some that these people--men AND women--are rather a ignoble lot and should be stopped. Who, however, could do that?
