| The "plot" listed by HK Flix doesn't really cover the whole film. Here's a brief, approximate synopsis:
There is a fat guy (sorry, I'm horrible with names) and his wife and son. They sell goods and services related to spirits, ghosts and the supernatural. The fat guy has a (thin) brother who also does similar things and fights ghosts/demons as well.
Long story short, fat brother thinks that his son might be the love child of his wife and his thin brother, which reates "comedic" rivalry throughout much of the film.
Around this plot revolves the son and his attempt to send a lost ghost back to the spirit realm.
But none of this really matters to me. There are only three reasons, as far as I'm concerned, to watch this movie: (1) The thin brother briefly battles a gorilla! Hoo-ha!,(2) The kung-fu battle with the powerful "Red Jacket Ghost" at the beginning of the film, and (3) the kung-fu brawl with the "Red Jacket Ghost" at the end of the film.
In between the two battles with Red Jacket Ghost, there is little kung-fu or horror/ghost action. The sub-titles are understandable and nothing more (far, far from great). While, overall I enjoyed the film, I suspect that this film is for completists only. |
