Currently only available on vcd in Hong kong, I picked up the dutch Mo Asia (which is a division of Japan Shock video) dvd which also is the only version on dvd as far as I know. The 1.85:1 print looks great and really does justice to the colourful cinematography. It's also a remarkably clean print with only some specks in the beginning of the movie.

The cantonese 2.0 Dolby Digital sound never seems to leave the center channel but dialogue and music are presented with a clean and crisp sound which works nicely with the movie.

The english subtitles are removeable and seems to be plagued by some of the amusing spelling and grammar inaccuracies that we see on Hong Kong dvd's. Mo Asia should've put a small black border on the subtitle font since they sometimes disappear against white backgrounds. The subs are also placed partly on the widescreen bar which as always doesn't please us widescreen owners. Dutch subtitles are also provided.

We get a few extras as well starting with the very serious Hong Kong theatrical trailer. There's also an animated photo gallery consisting of 9 pictures from the film and one look at an alternate artwork for the film. These pictures are shown in a very small window though so it's hard top get a good look at them.

The Herman Yau biography is slightly animated (it changes pages while playing music in the background) and covers some basic facts about his career. A list of cast & crew rounds of the extras on the disc.

There's also a physical extra in the form of a small booklet which again has the cast & crew listing as well as Herman Yau's directing filmography. In these pages there are also three small behind the scenes photos from the shoot of Ebola Syndrome.

This is the Cat III classified Hong Kong theatrical cut that the censors required cuts to back in 1996. It's an excellent dvd but Mo Asia did not obtain an uncensored print for that one. They do claim strong uncut on the back though....
