 | | | | This film is a blast! "Police Story" breaks ground with insane death-defying stunts, intense street fight scenes, some comedy, and a highly energetic Jackie Chan. This movie proves Jackie Chan made some amazing films outside of Hollywood, films that aren't watered down in any way. After I saw this film I respected Jackie more in the movie world, especially that he directed the film too! Some of the stunts they pull off are practically suicidal, and the fights are hard hitting! Tony Jaa could take a note or two from Chan. This film will remind you why Jackie is highly regarded in the martial arts/action stunt world. So if you need a dose of entertainment, I highly recommend picking this one up! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree on all points! Jackie also sings the theme song! | Sgt. T |

| In my humble opinion, "Drunken Master 2" is Jackie Chan's best martial arts film. With that in mind, "Police Story" is Jackie's best action/adventure film.
Jackie portrays a top cop that helps capture a drug czar, but soon finds himself framed and on the run by the drug lord and his organization. What follows is great action and comedy as Jackie breaks the rules to prove his innocence.
This movie has some of the best death-defying stunts ever filmed and was way ahead of its time. The supporting cast is excellent and the theme song to the movie was performed by none other than Jackie Chan.
As a side note, Jackie had already portrayed a police officer in "The Protector". Jackie, feeling that this was not a well done police film, went on to make "Police Story", which raised the bar for future police action dramas.
This film will always stand the test of time and I highly recommend it to Chan fans, and action lovers! |

Required viewing with incredible action and mind blowing stunts with a solid story | AH1706 | | Y | If one appreciates Jackie Chan action-adventure films (and how could one not?) this is somewhere in his top few. Choco is right about the HK version of "the Protector." | Jeffrey Frawley | | Y | recommended to everything!!!! | slave 2 (the ressurection) | | Y | Terrific review, I totally agree. This film is pure adrenaline. But I still say the HK version of "The Protector" was bad-ass, even though no one else agrees! | Choco |

 | | | | "Police Story" is, in my opinion, the greatest film that Jackie Chan has ever made. It is unbelievably funny and still maintains a very serious story: an elite police officer aids in the capture of a known crime lord. When the criminal gets off scott free and tries to frame Jackie for the murder of another police officer, Jackie must go beyond the law to save himself from jail time--all while trying to maintain a relationship with his girlfriend that is jealous of the key witness to his case that he is charged with protecting. This film is the funniest thing I have seen in years and boasts some of Jackie's most impressive stunts. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | One of Chan's best if not his best. Incredible stunts | AH1706 |

 | | | | Chan plays supercop Ka Kui who, along with his squad, arrests Chee, one of Hong Kong's biggest drug dealers. He's assigned to watch over Chee's former employee who becomes a key witness. The key witness is the beautiful and cunning Salina, played by the (still) beautiful screen legend Brigitte Lin. Salina manages to elude Ka Kui and leaves him no evidence, so Chee is set free and frames Ka Kui for murder, therefore putting him on the run. A beaten Ka Kui faces Chee and his goons for a final climatic fight in a mall. Must be seen to be believed. Jackie made up for his previous failed American films such as "Battle Creek Brawl" and "The Protector" with "Police Story". The movie will always be one of his best, not only because of Chan's hard work and effort on and off camera, but due to the stunt players who made this a sheerly energetic and thoroughly enjoyable film. Recommended. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | The story is simple, but the action is insane. Jackie Chan & his stunt team are amazing in this picture. The mall fight scenes are impressive. | JV47842 |

| This is the reason why many Chinese filmmakers stopped making kung fu flicks and started making cop flix with heavy stunt work. Jackie Chan wowed audiences everywhere and showed the world that you didn't need a huge Hollywood budget to make an engaging action movie. The stunts in the film made your jaw drop, the fight scenes were totally different from what you'd expect from a Chinese film, and the film entertained the hell out of people. Jackie is the reason why people had to change their ways of filmmaking if they wanted to keep up. The kung fu, hand-to-hand combat got played out and Chan revolutionized filmmaking with his originality and new concepts. I believe Jackie Chan was the reason why Chinese filmmakers abandoned kung fu action and went for a more raw and real style of action. This film started it all, and the films that came afterwards had to top the previous. A classic, and even after multiple viewings you'll see why the man is a legend in his own right. |

 | | | | Terrific death-defying stunts and a few vicious fights featuring glass destruction with the human body. A very enjoyable movie with minimal gags (which was appreciated) and a few slow spots. I can still watch this movie again and again and never get tired of it. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Die-Hard stunts and good fights like only Jackie can deliver. I like Jackie but sometimes the humour is so annoying. Example, the situation with Maggie Cheung in the film. Anyway, for a low the price it's worth buying. For a high price, not sure. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Like most others that have rated this movie, I agree wholeheartedly that the final scene could be one of the most exciting and dangerous on film. I'm sure all actors involved had to take time off to recover! I thought the middle of this film was a little slow though. IMHO the less clowning in Jackie's movies the better and this one has minimal clowning. I highly recommend this movie, but lack of action in the middle prevents this from being 5 stars. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | The first 20 minutes alone are worth the price of the DVD. Then it just keeps getting better. One of Jackie Chan's very best, this movie has lots of genuinely funny situations and incredible action/stunt work. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Great film, an action classic, and in my opinion the best Hong Kong action film of the 80’s. Good fighting and awesome stunt work by Jackie Chan and his stunt team. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good action flick. The story was ok, a little too dramatic at times, but the fight scenes and the stunts make up for that. Somebody get Jackie Chan a Tissue, I give the film a B+. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | This is my personal favorite JC film. It's got it all. Big fights, big stunts, and the best collection of outtakes. I don't believe any of JC's other movies have ever topped this one. It's simply un-toppable! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | A classic, any way you look at it. The film is one of the best action films of all time, one that should appear on the top 100 films of time. It won't, because this was jackie saying to western films makers 'i am the best and your crap'. Needless to say Western film makers didn't like that and have ignored the film and have called jackie chan a CULT hero. Think I'm wrong, watch the film and see for yourself. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | You didn't watch it? SHAME ON YOU!!!! This film is probably Jackie's best film yet! It has everything: a story, stunts, and action. What more do you want?! It is so good that even Jackie said "I am amazed when I watch this film again; the stunts and the action choreography really set an entirely new level for me!" Don't bother renting it, just buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | | Jackie Chan as policeman Ka-Kui. First in a series of (at least) 3, with Maggie Cheung as his hapless girlfriend. Unbelievable stunts and very funny comic elements. More breaking glass than you'll ever see elsewhere. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | | (9) An excellent movie that features some truly amazing stunts. The one with the bus stopping suddenly went horribly wrong. The two guys who went through the windscreen were supposed to land on specially padded cars in front, however the bus stopped short and they landed smack bang on the road, OUCH | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | | (***) A tough Hong Kong cop is given an assignment of protecting a key witness in a drugs trial, in this simple-minded but enjoyable mixture of martial arts, comedy and action genres. Chan does his own stunts most of which are incredible. Switch the brain off and enjoy this one. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
