Andy Lau takes on a new role of being a dance instructor who sauves his ways with women in order to get them to learn dancing at his dance studio. He meets 2 women who he successfully charms his ways to teaching them dance. One of them is Anita Mui, a rich woman who needs to get ready for a dance demonstration at her next social gathering. She is someone who doesn't smile too much, and her brother, Edison Chan is happy to fill andy's account up as long as he can put a smile on her face.

The other woman is Sandra Ng, who I though did a very good job at her silly role of a waitress who absolutely worships andy lau. Her actions are pretty funny and kept the movie from being boring even though the theme is .. ahem.. dancing... :) The class mates in the dance class are all pretty funny and enjoyable. The scenes where they were all dancing and singing at the BBQ was good. Overall, I liked this movie and it was entertaining until the ending (as i was told by tinlunlau, the DVD contains 3 endings), but the ending I saw was a pretty cheesy one anyway. It felt like the ending was like a quick sum up and it lacked any depth. I recommend this movie if you like dancing/tango, if you do, it won't disappoint you. But, otherwise, you can consider passing it if you aren't too interested in a comedy with a bad ending.

Since this movie sucks, I'll just do a 'Review of a shitty movie in 2 minutes let's see if I can do that.

Dance of a Dream is just some boring story of a woman (Sandra Ng) who dreams of becoming a dancer and become lovers with Andy Lau, who is the number 1 dancer in HK. Anita Mui shows up, and wants to be a great dancer as well, so she can show off to the rich pricks at some fancy place blah, blah, blah. Time is ticking away.

I just didn't like this movie, it was just a bunch of crap if you ask me, I guess Andy Lau wanted to do this movie just to show the world how much of a horrible dancer he is. He dances quite well actually, but he isn't good enough for me to enjoy this movie even more. The only thing that put a smile on my face were Cherrie Ying (who is a real cutie) watching Andy cry over a new pair of shoes and the last one is when the end credits begin to role.

I'm a fan of Sandra Ng (loved Portland Street Blues) but I never really got into her character. Which is a shame since I was too busy waiting for this movie to end. It was also nice to see 'Fatty' get drooled over by Cherrie Ying. That's the only character I liked in the whole movie, and watching his expression after he gets kissed by Sandra Ng is priceless as well.

In all, this movie just sucks, probably because I am not a fan of dancing and that I couldn't stand Andy Lau in this movie. I can stand him in movies like FTK and ROOT, but watching him in a movie likes this wants me to run for the hills and hide.

Whoops, I notice I went over two minutes.oh well, when you got to take a piss, you got to take a piss.

I think they should have given Edison Chen a bigger role, but the story was great--especially the musical part--and the dancing was awesome! I LOVE EDDIE.

For fans of Andy Lau, Sandra Ng or Anita Mui (all three or a combination of the three), this film is a must have. While the plot itself is fairly simplistic (local ballroom dance teacher wants to fleece a rich lady of money in order to finance his dream studio and enter the "world cup" of ballroom dancing competition), the actors and actresses make this a worthwhile and enjoyable film.

Andy plays the charming scoundrel, aided by a couple of loyal and capable friends. Along the way, he picks up a handful of students that really have little talent. The group gathers just for the fun of dancing and friendship. Soon, even the rich lady becomes a part of this group. The question still remains: who will get a "dance of a dream"?

A light, fun film to enjoy. Especially for fans of Andy, Sandra and Anita.
