| Overview: | This sequel snuck in a one-week theatrical run in Hong Kong at the end of 2001 (on one screen). Now, when Hollywood does that, it's often just to qualify the film for award consideration. Somehow, we don't think that's the case here...
The original was noteworthy chiefly for the advertisement featuring a sensationally sexy picture of Almen Wong in a skin-tight outfit (too bad she never actually wore it in the movie).
As for this edition, titled "Journey to Death," we know it will feature action, the return of Almen Wong, action, and Roy Cheung, an actor who is usually worth watching. Did we mention action? We hope it's good–the action was choreographed by Ridley Tsui Bo-Wah, who also worked on the Once Upon a Time in Triad Society films and composed the music for A Fighter's Blues (OK, we admit action director and music composer is a strange combination, but that's the beauty of Hong Kong cinema).
Director Law Shun Chuen's previous credits include Girls in the Hood, Suicide, Night Club, Mafia.com, and last year's Hero of City. (OK, that's not the most promising resume in the world, but in the interests of full disclosure, we thought you should know what he's done before you decide to buy.)
And, though the cover of the DVD is not quite as striking as the first film, it may well be that Almen will actually be wearing this outfit at some point in the story. (OK, we admit we haven't seen this movie yet, but we haven't found anybody else who has either, and we're hoping that it's better than it sounds.)
