King Hu goes to the my short list of directors with this one. It is like a collection of those light-filled Chinese paintings--that beautifully tells a supernatural tale. If you want slam-bang pacing, this isn't for you. But if you can wait a bit to have the flavor unfold, I think you'll be pleased.
