The action in this one is pretty good, but the unnecessary comedy in the begining really drags this down. Simon Yuen once again plays a seemingly innocent cook who knows kung fu and teaches his understudy in unique ways. I thought the blind and deaf duo fight was pretty entertaining and the end fight was very good, but when the first 20 minutes of a 90 minute movie is a waste, it's hard to give it anything more than 3 1/2 stars. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

Not really my kind of movie. Training scene in the kitchen with food and plates and cups.....plain weird. The bad guy's main fighters are a deaf man and a blind man... ridiculous! They fight in duo and I'm not crazy about this kind of fight....There is some good fights though. This is one of the best kung fu classics. Crystal Fist has it all, cheesy music and great kung fu action. The only dissapointing thing was these idiots took out the opening training sequence and flashback scene of his father's death. Why? At first when I saw the box for this movie at my local video store I was a little hesitant. But after the first few minutes I realized it was a film I had seen countless times when I was a kid. Only I had seen it under another title, "Crystal Fist". I have to say I enjoyed it as much now as I did then. It was great to see Simon Yeun (Ol' Dirty Bastard) again after seeing him in "Snake In Eagle's Shadow". But enough flashing back to the 80's. The fights are amazing. The fight between Billy and the Deaf Man and the Blind Man is still one of my favorites.The dubbing is so-so but the action makes up for it.The story is the same old "he killed my father I want revenge" bit, but you look past that and realize it to be a lost gem. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
