PLOT:
Two nameless con artists are accused of pilfering a large shipment of gold. They then take it upon themselves to investigate the chief of the security bureau responsible for moving the gold.

THOUGHTS ON THE MOVIE:
This is another movie that when I begin to watch it I already had extremely high expectations of it. Main reason being all the positive comments and reviews I read regarding this movie, and also that fact that it stars the always pleasing to watch, Leung Kar-Yan and Philip Ko. For the most part, the story in this movie is very easy to follow, there were just a few brief scenes that seem somewhat out of place or maybe would have been better off in the editing room floor. With that said, this movie did have a "seen before" plot line but it still was refreshing to watch, which can probably be credited to the stars of this movie. It did feature some comedy elements that I for one could have did with out, but on the other hand there were a few scenes that got a laugh or at least a smile out of me. The action in this movie was beyond average, very solid, extremely entertaining. This movie is sure to please even the most 'comedy-hating' kung fu movie fan out there. Highly recommended.

COMEDY: WAS IT FUNNY?
elements, but thankfully they are some presented to us by Leung Kar-Yan. There are your typical cross-eyed characters in this movie, in which never seemed to be even remotely funny to me. Plus many other instances where the director was going for a laugh. Here are a few examples of some of the comedy relief scenes.

There was one scene involving a very plump woman and her newly wed husband. It was their wedding night and she was in the mood for love. Skipping forward a few details, Leung Kar-Yan and Philip Ko wound up underneath their bed as the two begin their honeymoon. The groom was having back problems and was lying on his stomach with his back arched up, so his wife begin pushing it down which basically had the bed bouncing up and down while the two were under the bed getting their heads bumped and squished from the force.

One scene that did make me laugh out loud was when Leung Kar-Yan was hiding some money that he had just stole under his clothes while sitting on the bed. Philip walks in and sits down next to him, they talk, and then Leung Kar-Yan begins to stand up and a coin falls, he smiles and says "hey look there, a gold dollar", then as he begins to reach for it all his coins fall on the floor and right at this point I have to admit I laughed out loud. You have to be in the right mood to enjoy such a moment.

Another scene where Leung Kar-Yan and Philip Ko finally meet up with neck biting killer, when seeing him they both call him "steel jaws", then the big man says to them, " I am Golden Jaws, Steel Jaws is my brother, he's still working for James Bond". Depending on your mood, this scene may be good for a laugh.

Overall, even if you are not a fan of these types of movies; comedy-kung fu films, the kung fu action is so hard hitting and entertaining, you might want to check this movie out anyways. Definitely worth a purchase.

HOW'S THE ACTION?
The action in this movie is extremely impressive, very solid kung fu. With the three main stars in this movie coming to a final showdown at the end, it would be safe to say that it would be highly unlikely that the action in the last battle would be anything short of amazing. The always villainous Wang Lui, while not having any fight scenes through most of the movie, really makes up for it at the end. The last 20 minutes of the movie he has two extremely well choreographed fights where each of the fights he is battling against two men at the same time. Leung Kar-Yan and Philip Ko as well as Wang Lung-Wei are all in top form in this movie, the style and techniques that they display here is some of the best you will come across in an old school kung fu movie.

"BLOODY" GOOD OR NOT?
At one point in the movie without giving out all the details, we are shown a man with gold teeth, and we are only shown his mouth, he confronts an old man and just says, "how dare you steal my money", he then proceeds to pick the man off his feet, and begins to bite his neck 'Dracula' style. As the man lies dead, we are shown his bloody neck as well as the man that bit him, bloody mouth. Other then this scene, there was a little amount of blood shown during the final fight scene and no dismembering whatsoever in this movie.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
Leung Kar-Yan, Philip Ko and Wang Lung-Wei get my votes for the Standout Performances in this movie, after all who's left really, the cross-eyed guy? lol. Even though Leung Kar-Yan and Philip Ko had more fight scenes in this movie, Wang Lung-Wei really came through in the end with a spectacular showcase of his martial skills.

RENT, BUY OR PASS?
If you are not a fan of comedy-kung fu movies, and if you can find this for rent somewhere, then I recommend you to rent before you buy, just to make sure you can deal with the comedy in this one. For those of you who do not really care if a kung fu movie has comedy in it as long as the kung fu is strong and entertaining, then this movie is a must buy and should not be missed.

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T BUY THIS MOVIE:

  1. You SHOULD buy this movie if you are a fan of Leung Kar-Yan, Philip Ko or Wang Lung-Wei.
  2. You SHOULD buy this movie if you want to see some solid kung fu action.
  3. You SHOULD buy this movie if you want to witness the rarely seen "horse fist style".
  4. You SHOULD buy this movie if you want to see a villain named "Golden Jaw" bite chunks out of a sword.
  5. You SHOULDN'T buy this movie if you DO NOT like comedy-kung fu movies.
