This movie, along with the rest in this series, can be summarized with one word: convoluted.

Yes it has action, like the rest in the series, but the direction in this is horrible. It tries too hard to introduce an array of characters and sub plots with no real development. I could essentially cut and paste this review and put it in place for the other movies in this series. Only for Fu Sheng/Venom fans looking to complete their collection

Well, this movie is okay. The only reason I give it three stars is because some of the cast are from the Venom mob. I'm also a big fan of the late Alexander Fu Sheng. He is very funny in almost all of his movies. His fight scenes do not look rehearsed. Overall, if you are a fan, you will enjoy it.

The first part of the ultimate kung-fu epic. A massive cast who all play wild characters which really helps keep them all apart. The kung-fu is excellent although Fu Sheng hasn't gotten to be an archer yet--brave yes, archer no. That really leads into the main problem: all four movies have to be watched close together. This isn't a good standalone movie because it ends much like a chapter in a book: you immediately want to move on to the next chapter. But if you have the time and the ability to pay attention, you will love this kung-fu epic, the "Lord of the Rings" of the kung-fu world.

This is harder to follow than I would like, but it is worth the effort to follow closely. The cast is huge, the martial arts exciting, and the lead roles, particularly the female ones, better acted than most Hong Kong action films of the period.

The beginning of the movie was pretty good, nice sets and fighting. The movie kind of goes downhill from there. If the director was trying to confuse the viewer, he did a good job. The storyline jumps all over the place, and when the film ended I was left wondering what actually happened and what the point of the story was. But the sets and costumes were cool.

While I'm not a big fan of Fu Sheng, I was suprised by how engaging the film was, and how charismatic he was. What makes this film notable is the romance central to the plot--something rare in Hong Kong kung-fu films. Also, the plentiful cast and sweeping epic scope of the narrative make it very fun to watch.

I rate "The Brave Archer" 4 stars because of the top-tier actors in this film. The story is okay, but there need to be more fight scenes throughout the movie. Fu Sheng was good.

This is a good movie and of epic proportions. The story can be kind of intense and difficult to follow. The Kung-Fu is great and even unusual. In the some of the parts, the characters seem to change around and they also include actors with multiple parts. However, the total effort was quite good. I'm glad that I was able to obtain them!

The late great Alexander Fu Sheng put together some of his best and greatest kung fu action and on screen performance since Chinatown Kid...

The plot of this film is stupid, and the ending of this film was retarded! The fights were good, so there!
