My favorite Shaw Brothers movie reduced to crap. What irritated me more is not that the movie was recorded from a television broadcast, but that it left out important parts of the movie. Before buying the DVD I was given the VHS of this movie by a friend and encountered the same televised taping (his VHS copy however was a bootleg from one of those street vendors, but it still included the missing scenes). By buying the DVD I expected to get the theatre release and got less of the movie than anticipated after months of searching for it...all I can say is what a waste. |

Please note that this version has had over 30 minutes cut from its original length, including all of Ti Lung's scenes. The image is poor VHS quality with faded colors, grainy picture, and a large bar of distortion at the bottom of the screen. The mono audio is acceptable and dubbing is pretty bad, although it suits the film. Extras include only a chapter index. |
