Glass Tears is the debut feature of director Carol Lai Miu-Suet. She also edited and co-wrote the film.
Joe Ma's production company, the Brilliant Idea Group, has mainly concentrated on broadly commercial comedies up to this point (Those Were the Days, Lawyer, Lawyer) but has also released several fine films of varied genres by director Wilson Yip (Bio-Zombie, Bullets Over Summer, Juliet in Love), as well as Ringo Lam's Full Alert.
Glass Tears was part of the Directors Fortnight at Cannes 2001.
