| This is my favorite movie. The best film I have ever seen. Some may dislike it, but everyone can see the genius filmmaking. Very solid, very complete, very awesome film. Probably anyone age 14-30 will love this movie. Take my advice and buy this movie. (Everyone will get something else out of this movie, but one thing's for sure: you can't mistake quality; it's there and no one will be dissapointed of spending 2 hours of their time watching this.)
One last thing; if you are a 16, 17 year-old guy, this is perfect.
Note: Yes Korean movies are not popular and used to suck. The industry is very new and not as established as the Hong Kong, Japanese, Hollywood, or French industry...but that doesn't matter. You see its not the industry that makes a movie (take examples from Hollywood: hahahah, what crap they've got), it's the director and filmmakers that come up with dreams and fulfill them with hard work. Look, this is a masterpiece. |

| This is one of my all-time favorite movies. If you're into guy flicks about friendship and loyalty, then this will rank there close to Braveheart, Heat, and Goodfellas.
The movie is about a teenager named Min and his relationships with two friends and a girl. Min is a simple guy from a sad upbringing who yearns for a better life. His childhood friend Tae-Soo aspires for a life in organized crime. Loyalty binds them to make true sacrifices for each other, with tragic consequences. Romi is the beautiful and wealthy but equally troubled love interest of Min. Min's on-again off-again relationship with Romi puts him on a never-ending emotional roller-coaster. Whan-Kyu is a another friend who, like Min, is always getting in trouble at school. Clearly the less "talented" of the two (in terms of looks, fighting or getting girls), Whan-Kyu becomes the trustworthy, reliable security blanket of a friend to Min. However, one night a sad, depressed and drunk Min betrays Whan-Kyu with awfully sad consequences.
This movie is rich in relationship storylines and contemplative detail. It's a powerful movie I eagerly recommend. |

| Don't let the name fool you, Beat is a great movie not necessarily focused on fighting as the name may imply. Although there are fight scenes littered throughout the movie, the fight choreography is sloppy and glitchy. But that does not take away from the full potential of the movie. Beat is driven by a great story and compelling characters. The story is as old as time. Two great friends, who've been through thick and thin, separate. One to take the path of the gangster and the other, well, trying to clean up his act. While at a bar, the main character meets a strong willed girl and eventually ends up falling in love with her. Maybe just the thing he needs to clean up his act and live a "normal" life. Just as the audience thinks things are pretty much normal, the plot is then twisted with separations, meeting of old and new friends, fighting, and more separations.
The movie left me appalled and sad while at the same time wearing a smile. Beat is a nice change of pace and if anybody would like to try something a little different and something a little more fulfilling, Beat is definitely worth the buy. |
