| This title is number four in Crash Cinema’s “Shaolin Boxer Collection” series and is one of their first to appear on DVD. Crash is notorious for misrepresenting their titles and this is no exception. The cover art uses an image of a real Shaolin monk. This fits the DVD series title, but has nothing to do with the actual movie.
For an old budget DVD release, this one looks pretty good. The source appears to be an original 2.35:1 aspect ratio film print. It’s in good shape too. The worst problems visually include uneven image fading, greenish print oxidization primarily on the edges, moderate overall degradation, and mild image warping in places. The digital encoding is pretty low grade however and some pixalization can be seen. The original English dub audio track is virtually hiss-free. |
